Our international opportunities

As well as our own campuses in China and Malaysia, we also have an extensive network of international links in business and education. These partnerships foster research collaboration and encourage the sharing of knowledge and resources. They could also provide you with the opportunity to study overseas.

Study at the China Campus

Postgraduate study opportunities are available at the University’s campus in China for both UK and international students. The University currently offers a range of masters degree programmes in the built environment, business, Chinese studies, engineering, English studies, international communications, international studies and interpreting. Study at the Malaysia Campus

Postgraduate study opportunities are also available at the University’s campus in Malaysia for both UK and international students. Equally, students registered at our Malaysia Campus also have the opportunity to study in Nottingham for part of their degree.

The Malaysia Campus offers various postgraduate degree programmes in applied psychology, arts, biotechnology, business, cultural studies, computer science and entrepreneurship, education, engineering, and law, as well as research opportunities.

Research students in a range of subject areas, especially those that relate to Asia or the South East Asia regions, are welcome to spend time at the Malaysia Campus to gain international experience as part of their course. Find out more about our Malaysia Campus

Universitas 21 (U21)

Universitas 21 is an international network of leading research-intensive universities which work together to share knowledge and create opportunities for staff and students at The University of Nottingham through international collaboration.

Our status as a founder member of Universitas 21 means you may be able to study at one of our partner universities in Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, the UK or the USA.

At postgraduate level, opportunities are focused primarily on research. The University offers a number of competitive awards of up to £1,000 to full- and part-time PhD students in their second or third year to help them spend one month at a partner institution through the Find out more about Universitas 21 study abroad opportunities

U21 joint PhD programme

We are proud to be part of a new U21 initiative that will allow research students to embark on joint PhD programmes at leading universities across the globe. A Memorandum of Understanding agreed by 14 of the network’s universities in May 2009 provides a framework for creating tailor-made programmes of study, taking individual research needs into account and enabling students to live and work in two different countries. Going global

Nottingham has collaborated with other leading universities worldwide to establish the U21Global online graduate school. In 2003, U21Global launched its MBA, a high quality 100 per cent online programme incorporating 18 subjects. Currently, U21Global offers a range of business and IT management programmes catering to the varying needs of professionals looking to further their studies or upgrade their skills in the business or information technology management field.

All U21Global degree programmes are subject to the prior review and approval of an Academic Senate which is controlled by the universitas 21 universities. The MBA is also accredited by the European Foundation for Management Development, which aims to raise the standard of technology-enhanced learning programmes worldwide. All degree certificates awarded by U21Global bear the crests of the participating Universitas 21 universities.

For alumni of Universitas 21 institutions, U21Global offers a study grant of 10 per cent off tuition fees for postgraduate programmes. Find out more about U21Global

Erasmus European exchange

Postgraduate students may also have the chance to participate in the European Commission’s Erasmus programme. More than 3,100 higher education institutions in 31 countries participate in the programme so there are plenty of opportunities across all disciplines. Find out more about Erasmus
