Before you begin to study in England, you can meet with members of our
International Office and academic staff who regularly visit prospective
international students, and their families, before they come to study in England, to provide information on University life, whilst gaining a greater understanding of international students’ cultures. This is an ideal opportunity to discuss your application to study in England, as well as academic life at The University of Nottingham in the UK.
In addition to University visits, we also work with the British Council around the world and have a network of representatives who can give advice about what it’s like to study in England, at The University of Nottingham. Whilst they study in the UK, at The University of Nottingham, international students benefit from our well-developed support network for students who study in England. The
International Office provides a confidential advisory service for
international students and can offer help and guidance on the wide range of issues to be considered whilst you study in the UK including immigration, employment and financial matters, as well as any academic and personal issues you may encounter whilst you study in England.
To help international students settle into University life whilst studying in England, the
International Students’ Bureau provides a number of sporting, social and cultural events.
You will receive automatic membership of the
International Students Bureau which hosts events in the Students’ Union, helping you to meet
international students from your home country and across the globe during your time studying in the UK.
The University runs a number of schemes for
international students who study in England, at The University of Nottingham, with their partner or family.
Family Link gives you the chance to meet and socialise with English families. Regular coffee mornings provide an opportunity for you to meet other families. Free language classes are on offer, if your partner needs help with their spoken English. An on-campus nursery with subsidised fees provides care for pre-school children.
Under the
Post Study Work Scheme, international students who successfully complete a postgraduate degree are able to stay and work in the UK for up to two years following their studies in England.
