The School of Pharmacy has an enviable international reputation founded on excellence in science.
Our world-class pharmaceutical research has most recently been recognised with the UK’s most prestigious corporate accolade: The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the category of Innovation. The award, recommended by the Prime Minister and approved by Her Majesty the Queen, was received in April 2007. Molecular Profiles Ltd, one of the School’s successful spin-out companies, also received a Queen’s Award at the ceremony.
The School offers MRes, MPhil and PhD programmes, which focus on research activities, supplemented by taught courses designed to broaden scientific knowledge and provide relevant transferable skills.
We are committed to implementing current best practice in the training of postgraduate scientists. Our aim, through excellence in fundamental and applied science, is to provide Nottingham postgraduates with the platform to launch careers as international leaders in research, industry and professional pharmacy.
The School’s focus on research and investment is exemplified by the impressive Boots Science Building, the newly extended Centre for Biomolecular Sciences, and our partnership in the new Nottingham Nanotechnology and Nanoscience Centre. The School also houses the Doctoral Training Centre in Targeted Therapeutics, which is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.
