The School of Molecular Medical Sciences (MOL) aims to carry out internationally competitive research and promote high quality training in molecular microbial pathogenesis, immunity and inflammation.
The School is constantly evolving and over the past year there have been a number of exciting developments which include relocation of some of the research groups into state-of-the art laboratory facilities in the £25m Centre for Biomolecular Sciences, extensive redevelopment of our teaching and research facilities located at our City Hospital and Queen’s Medical Centre sites together with establishment of a dedicated social and study facility for our postgraduate taught and research students. World-leading research informs all of our postgraduate taught course provision and our research groups continue to attract significant research funding from a variety of sources including the European Union, UK and US research councils (e.g. MRC, BBSRC, NIH USA).
The School incorporates multiple research groups with expertise in molecular bacteriology, virology, chemical biology, immunology and cancer immunity and also hosts the Centre for Healthcare Associated Infections, which involves research staff from the NHS and seven Schools across the University.
Our excellent research infrastructure, together with internationally acclaimed research active staff, ensures that our courses provide students with skills and knowledge fit to meet the demands of their future careers and studies. We have the largest postgraduate taught course programme available in the medical faculty with around 100 students currently registered. In addition to our extensive taught course portfolio, the School offers both PhD and DM research degrees.
We hope that you will find a postgraduate course that suits your needs and, hopefully, look forward to welcoming you as a future postgraduate student.
