As an internationally recognised centre for professional development and training, the School of Education is committed to providing high quality postgraduate taught courses that are perfectly tailored to meet your needs.
For trainee teachers we offer four routes to gaining Qualified Teacher Status. Our courses are continually evolving to reflect current developments in education and "the overall effectiveness of The University of Nottingham in securing high quality outcomes for trainees is outstanding' (Ofsted Report 2010). The Postgraduate Certificate in Education is taught at Masters level and can contribute towards our MA in Education, and other specialist MAs. Applications for most Initial Teacher Education courses should be placed through the Graduate Teacher Training Registry. Applications for the Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) are made direct to the School of Education.
Our Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and MA programmes provide qualifications for teachers, educational leaders, and those in the caring professions, based in the UK and internationally. We offer flexible part-time, weekend, and twilight courses, as well as online modes of study, which allow you to fit your study around family and work commitments. Contact with students is maintained through tutorials, as well as by email, video-conferencing, telephone and post. In addition, the library’s electronic facilities can be accessed from anywhere in the world.
The School has a number of research centres, in which research has a direct impact on educational policy. We offer first-class research supervision and training within a comprehensive range of research degrees, and have an international reputation for quality and excellence. All students are linked to an appropriate research centre and benefit from working with specialists, and have access to outstanding facilities.
