
The Department ranks among the top 10 in the UK, with 75 per cent of research carried out by staff being rated either world-leading or excellent in the Research Assessment Exercise 2008.
Through all its masters programmes and research projects it encourages the examination of:
- social and material histories of objects and images
- explorations of the processes of cultural production, circulation and consumption
- the development of original theoretical approaches to understanding works of art and associated cultural phenomena
