Research opportunities in the School of Computer Science

The school occupies a central position on the University’s Jubilee Campus, which is situated about a mile from University Park. The prestigious, purpose-designed building includes the provision of the latest facilities for research into virtual reality and multimedia computing environments, as well as advanced teaching facilities and high-speed networking. The school has been established with the University for more than 20 years and embraces both Computer Science and the Informatics Institute of Information Technology. It currently has 30 members of academic staff. The school continues to be research-led and was ranked in the top 10 per cent of UK Institutions in the 2008 independent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). All the research activity in the school was considered of international quality, with 80 per cent of it rated as world class/internationally leading. Its research structure centres around well-funded leading research groups, laboratories and institutes.
