Academic staff in the School develop their research in close collaboration with international academic partners, with local partners in the UK health service and with colleagues from other disciplines in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. These include neurosciences, infectious diseases, nursing and genetics. There also exist close partnerships with Schools outside the Faculty including Psychology, Economics, Sociology & Social Policy and Education.
Enhanced career opportunities
As a consequence the School is able to attract well qualified and highly motivated research students whose success in completing excellent research projects has led to enhanced career opportunities and publications in international academic journals.
Supportive and inclusive atmosphere
The School is committed to providing a research environment that is supportive and inclusive to all staff and students and which helps every individual to maximise their potential. It holds a conference for postgraduate annually which offers students the opportunity to present some aspect of their research in the form of a presentation or poster to a supportive school audience.
