Business research areas

The School offers a rich environment for doctoral study at one of the UK’s top ten research universities. Candidates are welcome to apply either for the full-time or part-time MPhil/PhD Business and Management programme, or the full-time or part-time MPhil/PhD Manufacturing, Engineering and Operations Management programme.

Candidates are welcome to apply for the full time MRes programme. The MRes is a blend of taught research training modules, taught subject-specific training modules and a dissertation. The maim aim of the programme is to provide students with foundation training in the basic and advanced research skills sufficient to enter on to the MPhil/PhD programme.

Research at the Business School is organized around divisions, centres and institutes comprising:

Accounting and Finance, Entrepreneurship, Industrial Economics, Information Systems, Marketing, Operations Management, Organizational Behaviour and HRM, Strategy and the research centres and institutes:, Christel DeHaan Tourism and Travel Research Institute (TTRI), University of Nottingham Institute for Enterprise and Innovation (UNIEI) (one of twelve Government Science Enterprise Challenge centres), University of Nottingham Tax Research Institute (UNTRI), Centre for Europe-Asia Business Research (CEABuR), Centre for Enterprise Systems Research (CESR), Centre for Management Buyout Research (CMBOR), Centre for Public Leadership and Management (CPLM), Centre for Quality in the Global Supply Chain (CQGSC), Centre for Risk and Insurance Studies (CRIS), and International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (ICCSR), Centre for Concurrent Enterprise (CCE) and the European Risk Research Network (ERRN).

The fields of current interest to members of the School are wide, and supervision is available in a number of related areas for full-time and part-time postgraduate students working towards the MRes, MPhil or PhD.
