Veterinary Surgery (MVS)

Duration: 3 years full-time

This course has start dates in September and January 


Senior Clinical Training Scholars are registered on a 3 or 4 year Master of Veterinary Surgery(MVS) programme.  The MVS degrees are to provide appropriate training to equip the candidate to work at a specialist level in their chosen field.  The programme provides appropriate exposure to clinical case load and scholarly activity to ensure that candidates are prepared for and meet the criteria for assessment for the specialist clinical qualification in their field.

There are three elements of the MVS course:

  • Generic training to support the development of personal and professional skills associated with clinical practice and research
  • Clinical training allowing the student to gain comprehensive experience in all aspects of the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients in their chosen area of speciality. 
  • Clinical research will be conducted, requiring the design and execution of a reseach project in their chosen area of speciality.
Entry requirements:Candidates must be graduates of this or any other approved university holding a Veterinary Bachelor’s degree (normally first or second class Honours or equivalent).
Including:Each candidate must also be a Member or Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons with a legal ability to practise veterinary medicine in the UK
Other requirements:Candidates may also be considered if they hold other qualifications which, on the recommendation of the School, are deemed by the University to be equivalent to the qualifications referred to above.
IELTS:7.5 with no less than 7.0 in any element
TOEFL IBT:109 with no less than 21 in listening, 22 in reading, 23 in speaking and 21 in writing
