Theory and Design Masters (MArch)

Duration: 1 year full-time

This course has a start date in September

The MArch Theory and Design explores the potential contribution to the design process of an advanced theoretical input, drawing upon knowledge and a range of critical techniques from outside the traditional domain of architecture with an emphasis in the area of architectural history and theory.

This course offers you the opportunity to concentrate on architectural design and humanities to a high level of sophistication, providing time for studio-based exploration and innovation, and encouraging the development of advanced conceptual design and communication skills.

As is evident in the work of many contemporary architects, theoretical debates may often provide powerful design tools in the studio.  This course is also specifically intended to stimulate and to respond to increasing competition in the professional procurement of buildings and the pursuit of architectural excellence.
