Teaching English for Academic Purposes (Distance Learning) Certificate (PGCert)

This course has a July start date. 

This course is aimed at experienced teachers of English as a Foreign Language who wish to specialise in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and develop a career in higher education.

The course is underpinned by relevant theoretical foundations and, at the same time, it has a highly practical slant.

EAP is a growing market nationally and internationally and there is currently an increasing demand for well-qualified EAP teachers who will enable students to cope with the demands of academic study and research at universities.

Entry requirements:A relevant recognised first degree (at least second class honours) and two years` full-time experience in general second language English (EFL) teaching.
IELTS:7.0 with no less than 6.0 in any element
TOEFL IBT:100 with no less than 21 in listening, 22 in reading, 23 in speaking and 21 in writing

  • The Centre for English Language Education (CELE) offers an exciting and stimulating environment in which to study. The wide range of students who come to study at CELE from many different countries makes for an extremely interesting, culturally-diverse and lively community.
  •  Accommodation in University Halls of Residence is available for the duration of this course on a half board basis – you should apply direct to CELE for accommodation over the summer period.
