This course has a start date in September
Sustainable tall building design is a very wide ranging research-based task, encompassing urban design, structural design, multi-use planning, fire and safety engineering, elevator and environmental systems design, plant ecology, social concepts, tectonics, advanced construction and site management. Uniting it all must be a holistic environmental strategy which combines bioclimatic design and urbanistic thinking.
The course team includes distinguished guests and practitioners from key practices to add to the tutoring and lectures. The course includes drawing, physical and computer modelling as tools for analysis, form finding, video, communication and design. Student work is featured in conferences, articles and websites as examples of innovative thinking for the very complex ideas of sustainable tall buildings.
The department has years of experience in teaching tall building, and this course is fully supported by the Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).
