Social Work Masters (MA)

Duration: 22 months

The MA Social Work is accredited by the General Social Care Council (GSCC - the social work prfession's regulator) as leading to qualification as a professional social worker. The programme combines university and practice-based learning, both of which must be completed satisfactorily for the degree to be awarded. Places are limited to 30 students per year ensure the quality of the student experience and the availability of suitable placements. 

Social work is a regulated profession. As a social work student you will be expected to register with the GSCC and adhere to the standards set out in the Code of Practice for Social Workers. As well as regulating individual social workers and students, it also regulates the performance of social work courses, the reports of which are published on its website, so you can check to see how each university is performing.

Students on the programme are normally supported by a bursary which covers their tuition fees and a contribution to living expenses.

Entry requirements:2.2 (Lower 2nd class hons degree or international equivalent)
Other requirements:2,500 hours of social work related experience. Maths and English grade C at GCSE or equivalent.
IELTS:6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element)
TOEFL IBT:87 with no less than 21 in listening, 22 in reading, 23 in speaking and 21 in writing
