Course Specific Facilities
We have excellent laboratory facilities and IT labs available for use by students. The School prides itself on its emphasis on the applications of psychology, and in particular, computer-based education and cognitive development.
We house several research centres and groups which investigate problems such as the rehabilitation of people with sensory handicaps, causes of pedestrian and road-traffic accidents, and communication skills in children with learning difficulties. Our teaching emphasises practical applications of psychology, as well as psychological theory.
Currently, over 30 full-time postgraduates use the excellent lab facilities and equipment for research projects, supported by well-staffed mechanical and electrical workshops.
These include a wide selection of dedicated experimental labs; laboratories for work in physiological, psychophysical and computational investigation, structural and functional brain imaging, EEG, and transcranial magnetic stimulation; a library of test materials and a wide range of monitoring equipment including video apparatus and eye-tracking equipment.
It also maintains a local area network (LAN) of Apple Macs and Windows XP-based PCs. These provide access to file servers, laser printers, the campus-wide University computing network and the Internet.
