Politics (Research Track) Masters (MA)

Duration: 1 year full-time, 2 years part-time

This course has a start date in September  

The research track MA Politics aims to give you the methodological tools necessary to study politics at advanced level.

The MA has three elements:

  • research training
  • subject specific training
  • generic skills training

The research training component will equip you with essential research methods skills. The subject specific core modules will concentrate on providing you with an understanding of the main theories and concepts employed in political science. Generic skills training will provide you with guidance in particular software applications, career-related skills such as CV building, oral presentations and class teaching.

The degree programme is one of a suite of pathways offered by the School of Politics and International Relations to The University of Nottingham ESRC Doctoral Training Centre.

Entry requirements:2.1(Upper 2nd class hons degree or international equivalent)
IELTS:6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element)
TOEFL IBT:87 with no less than 21 in listening, 22 in reading, 23 in speaking and 21 in writing

  • This course is one of a suite of pathways offered by the School of Politics and International Relations as part of the University of Nottingham ESRC Doctoral Training Centre (DTC)
  • The Research Assessment Exercise 2008 ranked the School of Politics and International Relations in the top ten in the UK for research power
