Music Masters (MA)

Duration: 1 year full-time, 2 years part-time

Our Masters course, which can be taken full-time over one year or part-time over two years,  has recently been enhanced to create one of the most flexible, contemporary and distinctive courses in the UK. It is possible to build a bespoke course around your specific interests, or to profit from the variety of topics on offer, including one module from a different department.

Entry requirements:2.1(Upper 2nd class hons degree or international equivalent)
Including:Degree subjects should be relevant to course applied for
IELTS:7.0 (no less than 6.5 in any element)
TOEFL IBT:100 with no less than 21 in listening, 22 in reading, 23 in speaking and 21 in writing

Key facts

  • In the 2008 RAE, 85 per cent of the department’s research was rated as ‘world-leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’, a result that places us in the top 10 UK music departments
  • The MA in Music gives you the option to follow recommended pathways or to create your own pathway according to your personal interests
  • Students who can demonstrate advanced skills in performance or composition may opt to work towards a recital or portfolio, rather than a dissertation. This must be agreed by the course director in advance. A generous provision of instrumental or composition lessons is provided for such students
