The School of Contemporary Chinese Studies is recognised as a national leader in the provision of high quality, discipline-based degree programmes which incorporate the study of China. This expertise has been used to inform the content and structure of its exciting suite of taught masters programmes, including the MSc Business and Economy of Contemporary China.
Established in recognition of the national and global importance of understanding contemporary change and transformation in China, the School is committed to undertaking and promoting advanced interdisciplinary social sciences research into key aspects of the rapid changes in China.
The School houses the highly-regarded China Policy Institute, which is the UK’s only think-tank dedicated to the analysis of critical China policy, and to the expansion of knowledge about and understanding of contemporary China in Britain.
The University of Nottingham has a Confucius Institute within the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies aimed at promoting teaching of the Chinese language and Chinese culture. This is one of a number of Confucius Institutes across the globe.
The School also actively contributes to and has extensive links with the University of Nottingham’s Ningbo campus near Shanghai in China.
