This course has a start date in September
This course is conceived for students who have an interest in educational practice as mediated by new information and communication technologies (ICTs). The design and implementation of technology-supported learning will be addressed at societal and social levels of organisation (eg governments, institutions, and learning communities). However, the course will give special attention to the more psychological level concerned with the individual’s experience of learning or teaching. Students also wishing to develop design skills in relation to ICT are able to take elective modules in computer science.
The course will provide a degree of direct practical experience in using new educational technology. However, it must be stressed that the course does not aim to give extensive hands-on guidance in how to use such resources. Its concern is more with the societal, social and psychological underpinnings of learning with new technology. This will certainly involve encounters with state-of-the-art applications and practices, but it will not involve comprehensive training in their adoption. That said, the present curriculum should still provide students with a very sound basis for informed and reflective practice in all areas of
ICT and education.
