Economy, Space and Society Masters (MSc)

Duration: 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time

This course has a start date in September      

Drawing upon the School of Geography’s research strengths in the field of economic geography, this course provides an in-depth exploration of the intersections between economy, space and society.

The MSc is aimed at students with an interest in the empirical and theoretical frontiers of economic geography, in addition to those wishing to gain a deeper understanding of contemporary economic landscapes.

The formulation, research, and writing of a dissertation form an integral part of the course.

As well as exploration of theoretical and philosophical developments within economic geography, human geography and the social sciences more generally, the MSc provides training in a range of key research techniques and methods.  The course will equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to go on to doctoral research while also preparing you for careers beyond higher education.

Entry requirements:2.1(Upper 2nd class hons degree or international equivalent)
Including:Economic geography & sociology modules, economics, business studies, anthropology and other appropriate social sciences.
Other requirements:Interest in and previous experience of critical study of the economy and economies.
IELTS:6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element)
TOEFL IBT:87 with no less than 21 in listening, 22 in reading, 23 in speaking and 21 in writing
