Digital Economy Masters (MSc)

Digital technologies are transforming business, government and society underpinning a growing digital economy that will shape the way we live, work, play and travel in the future. The MSc Digital Economy responds to a growing UK need across a range of sectors including energy, transport and creative industries. The course will provide you with an understanding of the technological, human and business innovation aspects of the Digital Economy. This will prepare you for a career in an industrial, commercial or research environment.

As it is an interdisciplinary enterprise, we welcome students from diverse backgrounds, including Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business and Social Sciences.

By developing the skill set required to commercialise an idea and providing an understanding of how the increased penetration of digital technologies into everyday living can be both a commercial success and offer societal improvements, the course aims to create an increased culture of socially aware entrepreneurship in the Digital Economy. If you wish to develop confidence and understanding in entrepreneurship applied to technology and of the role and impact of such technology in society this course is for you.

Entry requirements:2.1 (Upper 2nd class hons degree or international equivalent)
Including:Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Psychology, Computer Science, Information Systems degrees
Excluding:Arts
Other requirements:UK Graduate Applicants are normally required to have a minimum of a Second Class, Division I Honours degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science or another relevant discipline. In exceptional cases, relevant work experience will be taken into account. International Student Applications are welcomed from overseas students with equivalent qualifications to those stated above.
IELTS:7.0 with no less than 6.0 in any element
TOEFL IBT:100 with no less than 19 in any element

Key facts

  • The MSc is a multi-disciplinary course associated with the Horizon Research Institute (established through an initial £40m investment by Research Councils UK, The University of Nottingham and more than 40 academic and industrial partners).
  • You will take a mix of modules led by academics with expertise in ubiquitous computing, business, human factors and social science and, as a consequence, you will benefit considerably from the differing perspectives and approaches to teaching and learning.
